Quorn Township

Welcome to Quorn

Nestled amongst hills at the entrance to Richman Valley in the picturesque Flinders Ranges, the old Railway town of Quorn has become both a popular tourist "stopover', and a holiday destination.

Quorn is the home of the Pichi Richi Historic Railway. Quorn is approximately 340 km north of Adelaide, and 40 km from Port Augusta and Highway One, through the scenic Pichi Richi Pass.

Quorn's tourist attractions include its many "unspoiled" streetscapes and historic buildings (utilised as sets in various famous Australian movies), numerous bush-walking trails, scenic drives, a real country town atmosphere, and an ideal location on which to base a Flinders Ranges holiday.

The town and immediate surrounds has a population of 1400. Ouorn serves as a small service centre to tourism, farming and the pastoral industry. These are the main industries in the Flinders Ranges Council district. It also has residential appeal for a number of Port Augusta workers who, requiring a relaxed small town lifestyle, commute daily.

Quorn is 293 metres above sea level, with the highest nearby point being Mount Brown at 965 metres.
