| The
Cabin is the ideal spot for anyone wishing to get away from it all! It is set in a very
remote and rugged part of the Horseshoe Valley, yet is easily accessible. The Cabin offers comfortable
accommodation and is well furnished, with all cooking equipment in the kitchen.
The log fire is very efficient and the solar powered
lighting excellent. Outside, guests can enjoy a campfire or BBQ.
There are enough beds for 10 thus making it ideal for
families. However, it is also very popular with couples who really want to be
alone!
As it overlooks the dam, you can sit inside
and watch the wildlife come to the water at sunset. There are always plenty of Kangaroos
and often Emus. Bird-watchers love it and have reported some rare species while staying
there. A list of birds is in the Cabin.

The main activity is of course bush walking, and there is a
variety of walks to do when based at the Cabin. The most popular is a 2 hour walk which
follows the creek past a waterfall, and then follows a track up to Mount Stokes - the
highest point of the Horseshoe Range. From there you can see views of the Flinders Ranges
from Mount remarkable in the south to Wilpena Pound in the north.
Mookra Tower is another nearby landmark.
There is a four wheel drive track from the Cabin up to
Mount Stokes, however it is for experienced drivers and not for the faint hearted!
Ben has some good stories about this track being made.
Your hosts, the Carns live 40 km away on another property,
and as privacy is a big selling point of the Cabin, Ben and Susan generally leave the
visitors alone. However, they are available on request if needs be!

At shearing time in September visitors are invited to go
around the range to the big shearing shed and watch. Many consider this to be a highlight!
Most of the visitors are from Adelaide, Whyalla and
interstate. Many bring overseas visitors with them to give them a taste of the real
Australia - complete with kangaroos! Many clients return every year.
